Ouzo is our first sealed and our oldest female, retired from breeding.
Every day when I come home from work, Ouzo would meet me at our driveway gate. We live in the country on 10 acres, so there's a long circle drive that goes around the house. I usually pull in and park under a big mesquite tree and check on her pups, clean their pen, feed and play with them. One day I came home and Ouzo didn't come to the gate, jumping and happy to see me. She was standing between me and the mesquite tree rearing up, standing her ground... very strange for her. I called her and she wouldn't come. I pulled in, closed the gate and sat in my truck, I knew she was telling me something! I looked past her at the tree, and spotted a basketball size black object in the middle of it.....BEES!! I parked there the day before... they weren't there! When I called Ouzo this time, she ran to the truck and jumped in, knowing that I got her message, I backed away from the tree and bees. I believe she saved my life! My Best Friend. We had the bees removed the next day. So, listen to your dogs, they know best. It effects me, to have to recall that day.
P.S. Ouzo is now a therapy dog.
RIP 5/2/2008-2/24/2021 A sad day, goodbye sweet girl. I was blessed to have her.
